Alberta Slalom Canoe Kayak is elated to announce we will be bringing back the annual Alberta Provincial Slalom Camp July 12th to 16th at Canoe Meadows on the Kananaskis River! We will be bringing together the best athletes and coaches from around Alberta as well as visitors from British Columbia to learn, train and refine paddling styles. The camp will be based on the Kananaskis River with a race on the Friday. Spread the word, invite your friends, and don't miss out.
This year the slalom camp will be instructed by: Liam Smedley (CAN), Stanislava Kovacova (SVK), Jocelyn Taylor (CAN), Mike Roberts (UK), and Reneo Ohler (CAN).
The camp will be separated into two groups for the duration of the week: Intermediate & Beginner.

Youth ages 10 - 13. Must be comfortable paddling the Kananaskis River (with option to walk rapids) 100% Whitewater wet-exit required and experience swimming in whitewater. Slalom experience not required. Introductory level slalom courses & learn to paddle slalom boats. Novice half-course slalom race on Friday. | Youth 14+ & Adults. Recommended experience in slalom gates. Confident whitewater roll recommended. Challenging slalom courses & skills progression. Full slalom race on Friday. |
Participants are responsible for their own paddling equipment. camping equipment and food for the week. Beginner participants who are not able to camp & cook independently will require a chaperone / parent volunteer to help and supervise. Instructors will be on-site and available throughout the week but will not be able to supervise youth full-time.
Slalom boats are available to rent at a fee of $20/day. ASCK has a limited selection of slalom boats available for rent. Email [email protected] with your height, weight, and the number of days you would like to rent for the camp.
The group campsite will be reserved for the Slalom Camp and the fee is $15/person per night. For individuals looking to arrive early or stay for longer please consider booking individual camping sites at the Canoe Meadows campground asap while space is available. Individual site booking here.

Additional evening paddling may be arranged if kids are keen to get more time on the water.
All campers are required to bring masks for short rides in vehicles to set shuttle for river runs.
Paddlers can expect heaps of fun, paddling multiple sessions a day, and campfire socials in the evenings.
